WILG — Amphibious Tiny Home
An amphibious tiny home on the Maas in Limburg, designed for a willow weaver, that rises on steel guide piles when the river floods.
Every home belongs somewhere. WILG is a tiny home for a specific place and a specific person: a retired lock keeper who now weaves willow baskets and fish traps on the banks of the Maas in Born, Limburg, where the river swings between a dry summer trickle and a winter flood.
WILG is amphibious. A watertight concrete hull holds a light cross-laminated timber cabin, and four steel guide piles keep the home in place. On a dry day it rests on the bank. When the Maas rises, WILG rises with it.
