Route — Electric CX Bike
Full industrial design and 3D modelling for the Route electric cyclocross bike, delivering a production-ready concept.
Route approached ZÆT to design their electric cyclocross bike from the ground up — a product that had to perform on road and off-road, carry the weight of an electric drivetrain without compromising CX handling characteristics, and look like something a serious rider would choose to race on.
ZÆT led the full design process. Frame geometry was developed for the CX use case — tyre clearance, stack and reach proportions, bottom bracket height, and chainstay length all tuned for the mixed terrain demands of cyclocross riding, with the electric drivetrain's weight distribution factored in from the start. Battery and motor integration were resolved within the frame architecture, keeping the visual language clean and the weight as centralised as possible.
The complete 3D model was developed to production-design standard — not a concept sketch, but a fully resolved form with component integration, surface quality, and the detail level needed to move directly into engineering and prototyping. A high-quality render suite was produced across colourways and angles, giving Route the visual assets for investor presentations, partner discussions, and early market testing.
