VerseBikes — GPS Tracker

The GPS bike tracker market is crowded with products that were designed for the lowest possible price, not the best possible experience. AirTags require a phone in range. Budget trackers lose signal in dense urban environments. Fleet-grade systems cost ten times what a consumer is willing to pay. VerseBikes set out to build the tracker — an LTE-M GPS device designed from the ground up for cyclists, with one year of cellular data included at a retail price that makes it an easy decision.

ZÆT led every stage of the development. Market analysis mapped the competitive landscape, identified the technology positioning (LTE-M over 4G for superior battery efficiency and IoT network coverage), and defined the commercial model — €79.95 retail including twelve months of cellular data, with a parallel B2B channel targeting bike shops, fleet operators, and insurers.

Industrial design focused on a device that disappears on the bike — compact enough to mount discreetly, with a solenoid-locked baseplate that resists removal without the owner's authorisation. Engineering covered the LTE-M GPS module specification, antenna performance, power management for extended battery life, and the solenoid mechanism. Prototypes were built and tested across tracking accuracy, cellular coverage, and real-world battery performance before the design was locked for production.

Supplier sourcing identified and qualified the GPS module supplier, cellular hardware partner, enclosure manufacturer, and assembly facility. The crowdfunding launch campaign was developed and executed in parallel with the final production confirmation — converting early interest into backers and first revenue before the initial production run was committed.
