CY:ONS — 4-in-1 Vehicle
The most ambitious product in the CY:ONS range, exploring a four-mode transformable platform from concept to presentable direction.
The CY:ONS 4-in-1 vehicle is the most ambitious product in the CY:ONS range — a single platform capable of operating in four distinct modes. Where the 2-in-1 explores a single transformation, the 4-in-1 demands a transformation architecture that can accommodate four different use states without becoming mechanically unworkable or structurally compromised in any of them.
ZÆT led the design sketching phase with that complexity as the primary design constraint: not 'how does it look?' but 'how does it transform, and can each mode be genuinely useful rather than a technical demonstration?' Multiple concept directions were generated, each exploring different approaches to the four-mode architecture — different transformation sequences, different structural strategies for the joints, different approaches to the mode-change mechanism.
The engineering feasibility analysis assessed the structural requirements of a four-mode platform: the load paths that change with each transformation, the joint design that must perform across four different force environments, and the mechanism complexity that sits at the boundary of what can be manufactured at a viable cost. A product presentation was developed to communicate the 4-in-1 concept — all four modes, the transformation logic, and the engineering rationale — clearly to investors and partners.
