Spin is a CD and streaming player designed as a premium object — a ZÆT concept for people who want music to feel like an occasion, combining market research, product strategy, engineering feasibility, and industrial design.
Streaming made music effortless and stripped it of ritual. The CD revival is a response to that — people buying physical albums again not for the sound quality but for the act of choosing, handling, and playing something deliberate. Spin is designed for that listener: a device that plays CDs and streams, where the physical album gets the entrance it deserves.
ZÆT developed the Spin concept from market analysis through to industrial design and engineering feasibility. The product strategy resolved the tension between the CD mechanism and streaming convenience — not by hiding one or the other, but by designing a product where both feel intentional. The engineering concept integrated a CD transport mechanism alongside streaming hardware within a form that sits on a shelf as an object, not in a rack as a component.
The industrial design established the proportions, material palette, and interaction logic — how the disc is loaded, how the controls work, and how the product looks when it is doing nothing, which is most of the time.
