Metro — Fleet Ebike
Full development, engineering, prototyping, and early sales for the Metro fleet ebike.
Metro was built for one specific market: institutional fleet operators who need a durable, low-maintenance, serviceable electric bike they can deploy at scale. Not a consumer bike adapted for fleet use — a fleet bike designed as a fleet bike from the first decision.
ZÆT took Metro through the full ZEF cycle. Define Direction established the fleet operator use case, the total cost of ownership requirements, and the commercial model for B2B sales. Build the Foundation covered the full industrial design and frame engineering — stress analysis, component specification for fleet-duty cycles, and design decisions that prioritise operator serviceability over retail aesthetics. Standardised components, accessible service points, and durability under daily use were non-negotiable constraints from the start.
Prototype build was coordinated with manufacturing partners and the physical prototype was subjected to structured testing — ride validation, structural assessment, and durability evaluation under simulated fleet conditions. Findings were fed back into iterative refinements before the prototype was signed off.
Execute and Launch ran in parallel with the final prototype phase. ZÆT led the early sales programme — B2B outreach to corporate fleet managers, hospitality operators, and municipal mobility programmes — converting the prototype into first commercial orders before the production run was committed.
